APEC Seminar on Disaster Risk Financing in the Asia Pacific Region

Yogyakarta, 18 - 19 June 2014

Initiated by the Fiscal Policy Board, Ministry of Finance the Republic of Indonesia, the two day seminar was held in Hyatt Regency, Yogyakarta. Officially opened by Dr. Andin Hadiyanto (head of Fiscal Policy Board) the seminar was attended by 100 representatives of 21 APEC economies and 33 international finance organizations such as ABAC, AIPEG, APEC Policy Support Unit and ASEAN HA. Other organizations were ASEAN Insurance Council, ADB, IFC, CBI The Netherlands, Citigroup, Tokyo Marine Asia Pte. Ltd, USAID Indonesia, World Bank, Swiss Reinsurance and UNESCAP. The seminar program included a site visit to Mount Merapi, an active stratovolcano located on the border between Central Java and Yogyakarta. It is the most active volcano in the country and has erupted regularly since 1548. The eruption in October 2010 killed dozens of local people.
