INTERGOVERMENTAL REVIEW MEETING

The fourth Intergovernmental Review (IGR-4) meeting was held at Inaya Putri Bali. The Indonesian Minister of Environment and Forestry, H.E Dr Siti Nurbaya Bakar, was appointed to lead the IGR-4 meeting that lasted dynamically for two days. The IGR-4 is a forum of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) addressing the theme “Pollution in Ocean and Land Connection”. The meeting was attended by 400 delegates from 89 UNEP member states, discussing the main issue “protection of the marine environment from land-based activities”. The agreements reached at the IGR-4 were later adopted in the "Bali Declaration on the Protection of the Marine Environment from Land-Based Activities."
